Hey Dragon Nation,
It’s your quarterback, Chad Jeffries. I’m excited to get this opportunity to talk to you all. After having a very successful season in 2018, full of many team and personal accomplishments, we still came short of our main goal of winning the Austrian Bowl.
After the season came to an end with the tough lose against the Austrian Bowl Champions (Tyrol Raiders), I quickly sat down with the coaches and started talking about the next season and how I believed the Dragons were heading in the right direction to becoming a top European-American Football team.
I was very eager to resign with The Dragons for the 2019 season and knew that with one year under our belt we could improve so much together and really make a run for the top. To show how committed I was to the Dragons, I signed my contract for the 2019 season only 1 week after the end of the 2018 season. I knew I was in the perfect place with a special group of guys.
So like all import lives, I had to go home for a bit after the 2018 season and continue my training without having my team by my side to workout and to really grind in the offseason. Most don’t know how hard that is when you don’t really have the same motivation around you like my workout group back here in Austria.
I had to keep myself busy with a part time job for a moving company , enrolled myself in a German language course (for beginners), and pushed myself as best one could in the gym, on the field, and in the kitchen.
As those quick 4 and 1/2 months went by, I really valued my time with my family and friends (I love you Mom). But I really was itching to get back to work with my guys and start preparing for the 2019 season. I was so ready to get back, I flew in right before the New Year to allow for me to adjust and get back into a routine before our first practices started up.
After only being back for a month now, I can say I am very happy with my decision to return to The Dragons. The move from Stadlau to Donaufeld is gonna set us up to be successful not only this year but the years to come as The Dragons Youth Program comes up to the AFL level. The improvements to our football offices and brand new gym will allow for greater growth of The Dragons on and off the field.
I can only say that I am so blessed to be apart of this great time for the Dragons and promise to do whatever I can to help and grow the green blooded nation. For now we are working hard and preparing each day to give you something to be proud of. We have lots of work to do but together we can do it! Until next time my green blooded family.
